Dr. Velayutham’s research focuses on identifying novel dietary flavonoids for the prevention of vascular disease in diabetes and metabolic syndrome. His current research examines the vascular effects of blueberries and strawberries with special emphasis on the microbial metabolites of berry anthocyanins and the molecular signaling mechanisms involved. These studies will provide key insights toward understanding the causal association between dietary berries, gut microbiome and vascular health.

Anandh Babu Pon Velayutham, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Madras and subsequently completed postdoctoral training at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Velayutham joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2012.
