Associate Director, University of Utah, Environmental & Sustainability
Associate Professor, Sch Of Environ,Society&Sustain
Research Summary: I am an ecosystem ecologist whose research examines how global changes (climate change, urbanization, altered flow regimes, and non-native species invasions) affect microbial community dynamics and ecosystem processes, such as nutrient cycling and decomposition. I also am interested in applied research related to river and riparian restoration and green infrastructure. I use a variety of approaches, including field and laboratory studies and syntheses of scientific literature.

Professor, Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy
Professor Entrepreneurship and Strategy, University of Utah, Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy
Pierre Lassonde Presidential Chair in Entrepreneurship, David Eccles School of Business, Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy
Research Summary: Professor Brittain is studying the relationship between the moral foundations that are embedded in organizations' institutional histories and policies in practice, and in particular the factors that disrupt these moral foundations and the associated changes in organizational policies for government regulatory bodies. In addition, he is studying the leadership practices found on 19th Century whaling ships and the relationship with voyage productivity.

COLBY JAMES CLARK
Postdoc Fellow, Philosophy
Research Summary: Broadly construed, my areas of specialization are environmental philosophy and complex systems theory. I write on topics that bridge the philosophy of science and applied ethics. The philosophy of science side of my research concerns problems of scale, strategies to model resilience, and the nature of boundaries. In applied ethics, I study practical issues within their social-ecological contexts that relate to climate change, conservation, and environmental justice.
