Composer Nadine Silverman agreed to write a piece for our all female quartet. The piece is in four movements and each movement reflects each members’ personality. Each of us is a mother, daughter, wife, sister, educator, servicemember, and business professional. We wear so many hats as we navigate our daily life. This piece was submitted October 1, 2022 and accepted by the ICA Artistic Committee. It will receive its world premiere at the 2023 ICA Clarinet Festival in Denver, CO on July 7, 2023.

- The Ring Around the World, by composer Todd Cochran, is a conceptual art music work that
illuminates ways in which humanity, beyond geography, is globally unified in a search for
meaning. Commissioned by the duo female ensemble DarkWood (clarinet and percussion) the
piece is a sound portrait about intersectionality and the transformational elements of female
expression throughout all cultures. The great feminine mystery is the capacity to hold the past,
present and the future in the same instant. The work is in 10 movements. Darkwood premiered
3 movements on 10/23/22 at the ICA New Music Festival as part of a composer/artist
masterclass. The Duo will do a world premiere of the entire work with visual art on July 7, 2023
at the 50th anniversary ICA Clarinet Festival in Denver, CO.
