Research Statement

The research program of my lab at the University of Utah is interested in understanding fundamental functions of photoreceptors-containing biomolecular condensates called photobodies as developmental and environmental sensors in controlling plant growth, development, and chloroplast biogenesis (greening). We use a combination of molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics to explore fundamental mechanisms of nucleus-organelle communication in regulating the assembly and activity of bacterial-like plastid-encoded RNA polymerase (PEP) complex.
