Biography

I have worked in higher education over fifteen and at three great institutions: Weber State University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Utah.  These experiences have provided me great insight into the undergraduate experiences of students.  As an academic advisor, one of my goals is to help students successfully navigate this system called higher education.  I obtained my B.A. in English with a minor in communication from Weber State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah, and a Ph.D from The Ohio State University.

Research Summary

My research interests include issues related to nontraditional undergraduates (those with roles and responsibilities that appear to limit their success) and historically underrepresented students in higher education, transition to college, and college retention and completion. Other research interests include leadership identity development and the role that peer mentoring plays in college student success.
