I have worked in higher education over seven years and at two great Utah institutions: Weber State University and the University of Utah.  This experience gives me great insight into the undergraduate experiences of students.  As an academic advisor, one of my goals is to help students successfully navigate this system called higher education.  I obtained my B.A. in English with a minor in communication from Weber State University in December 2007 and on the verge of completing my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah in August 2011.

Research Summary

My research interests include issues related to nontraditional undergraduates (those with roles and responsibilities that appear to limit their success) and historically underrepresented students in higher education, transition to college, and college retention and completion. Other research interests include leadership identity development and the role that peer mentoring plays in college student success.
