- The Stage | The Wreck of the Queen Thomasina review | Paul Vale "Its language is crude in places – they are pirates after all – but it’s those moments of an almost poetic affection that soothe the soul. It’s as hypnotic as the sea soundscape that underscores the action or the gentle lullaby that Crumb sings to his friend. There is an easy chemistry between Johnson as Nickel and a cherubic Harrison Lind as Crumb, and Alexandra Harbold’s direction smooths over the rougher edges of the script.
The broader comedy elements that border on farce, including Nickel making love to the treasure chest, are funny, but the overall tone here is far more elusive. Footpath aims to reinvigorate the Brooklyn fringe scene and this piece is quirky and clever enough to do just that.". 08/08/2023.

- British Theatre Guide | The Wreck of the Queen Thomasina ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Reviewer Graeme Strachan
"When a pair of chalk and cheese pirates are marooned on a small desert island, they can only hope to be rescued, or to find treasure that might assuage their plight. But this might be hampered slightly when they are both slightly daft, and talk almost entirely in rhyming couplets.
The Wreck of the Queen Thomasina is a curious beast of a play, having been tugged all the way from New York City to Edinburgh to blow its load across the Fringe stage. Needless to say, this rhyming farce of tragicomic glee is pretty much everything you could expect or hope for in fringe theatre.
Crumb and Nickel manage to be a perfect pair of characters to bounce off one other. The elder Scots lookout and the young, naïve cook manage to each fall into the other’s folly while spinning their poetic dialogue, sometimes really forcing through a bad rhyme, to brilliant comic effect. The writing here is excellent and delivered in full accent with no small measure of charm and charisma. Even more surprising that, even at the brief 45 minutes it runs, it’s been able to win the audience into feeling genuine emotional connections to the silly pair, as things slide from boisterous bathos into heartstring-tugging, tear-jerking seriousness.
There’s nothing else to say here other than this play is itself a treasure. Catch it before its run ends."

Thurs-Saturday, April 13-15: To See Beyond Our Time, 7:30 p.m. at Leona Wagner, Black Box Theater at The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, SLC. Event by Ririe-Woodbury Dance Co.: "TO SEE BEYOND OUR TIME is a new dance created in response to the urgent call to save the Great Salt Lake. Galvanized by the declining water levels and catastrophic impact on both the air quality and the Lake’s teeming ecosystem, this dance reckons with our interconnected environmental fates. - UTBA REVIEWERS SOUND OFF: EXCELLENCE IN 2019 | UTBA
EXCELLENT COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PRODUCTIONS
"The Rivals at the University of Utah was extremely memorable, and one of the reasons was spectacular costumes and set design. In my review of the production, I said that seeing Amanda French‘s hair and makeup and Heather Parsell Rogers‘s 18th century costumes were worth the ticket price and made the actors look gorgeous. Add in the fantastic performances from a disciplined, highly trained ensemble cast, brisk pacing and clever direction from Alexandra Harbold, and The Rivals was one of my favorite productions of the year." —Miranda Giles, UTBA member
EXCELLENT NEW PLAYS: "The Night Witches by Rachel Bublitz, directed by Alexandra Harbold, and produced by YouTheatre at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City is the best example of ensemble work I have seen in a very long time. Everyone should do their best to see it when it is remounted by the company." —Megan Crivello, UTBA vice-president. 12/31/2019.

- UTBA REVIEWERS SOUND OFF: EXCELLENCE IN 2018 | Utah Theatre Bloggers | Russell Warne
EXCELLENT PROFESSIONAL (EQUITY) PRODUCTIONS
'The Wolves' at Salt Lake Acting Company was an amazing production that highlighted the power of young women. It did not shy away from the rawness of adolescence and the gravity of the situations young people find themselves in. It was visceral and gut-wrenching in its accuracy. Director Alexandra Harbold cast beautifully and allowed features actresses Ireland Nichols and Alison Jo Stroud to shine. Nichols and Stroud are performers to watch for, and I hope to see them featured onstage again soon. —Megan Crivello, UTBA vice-president. 12/31/2018.
