Biography

Erika Marks, LCSW, Research Assistant Professor, currently works as the Title IV-E coordinator for the Social Research Institute at the University of Utah.  She obtained her Bachelor's (2001) and Master's(2010) degrees in social work from the University of Wyoming and has worked for over 23 years in the field of social work. She obtained her LCSW through the State of Utah in 2012 and has maintained this licensure.

Her experience includes trauma prevention/intervention, family therapy and community-based treatment. She has worked in private settings with adolescents and implemented Multisystemic Therapy with families. She has also spent several years at Salt Lake City School District as a Family and School Collaboration Coordinator implementing a district wide family engagement and attendance plan.

Erika has spent most of her career working for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in Utah. These years included time as a front-line child protection worker, a supervisor of a Sex Abuse/Severe Abuse Child Protection team, a Child Welfare Administrator, and a Training Manager.  

During her time as a Training Manager with DCFS, Erika was invested in helping the state of Utah improve and strengthen its workforce. This included the development and implementation of a simulation training environment in collaboration with the Social Research Institute at the University of Utah. She also developed a Child Welfare centered Leadership Academy.

Erika interest lie within workforce development in the child welfare system. She is invested in enhancing leadership and frontline skills and knowledge through coaching and skill acquisition.
