Research Summary

My main area of study includes the analysis of the discourses of "the politics of the friendship" in the Latin American literature of the first decades of the XXth century; its political and literary relevance, which refers to innovative inter-personal and communal non-normative affiliation relationships, arising in the exchange of ideas and technologies characteristic of modernity.

Biography

I'm Betty Aguirre-Maier from Latacunga, Ecuador. I'm doing my PhD in Languages and Literature at the University of Utah. I obtained a Masters in Languages and Literature from the University of Utah with a concentration on Latin American Literature of the 20th century. My current research interest is in the discourses of the politics of friendship in the realistic Latin American literary genres and their mechanisms of literary production. Also, I have been working on several cultural and literary projects in South America, specially in Ecuador. I am the co-founder of the Entremares Magazine, a digital cultural magazine that was reconized and featured in the Lassonde Entrepeneur Institute Magazine.
