Biography
Ben Miller is the deputy chief of the Utah Indigent Appellate Defense Division. He has spent the bulk of his legal career as an appellate public defender, having previously worked at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender and then the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. Before joining the IADD, Ben was a principal attorney at The Wren Collective. There he provided research, policy, legislative, and communications support to elected officials, grassroots organizers, and public figures seeking to reform the criminal justice system.
Ben has authored or co-authored op-eds that have appeared in The Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News, Washington Post, USA Today, The Appeal, Slate, and Politico. He has prior teaching experience as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Law, University of Baltimore School of Law, and American University Washington College of Law.
