Research Summary
Jeremy D. Horne (he/him) is a Black studies scholar of education who uses qualitative methods to examine anti-blackness in schools. His research specifically engages (1) critical theorizations of (anti-)blackness in education, (2) the intersection of (anti-)blackness and the racial politics of education, and (3) critical studies of gentrification and its effects on Black school-communities.
Biography
Before joining the Department of Education, Culture, and Society (ECS) at The U, Jeremy was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin with a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies. His academic journey also includes a Master of Arts from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science from Howard University. Notably, Jeremy is a UCEA Barbara L. Jackson Scholar and a former Graduate Fellow at the University of Texas Center for the Study of Race and Democracy.
