Research Summary
I am a plant ecophysiologist interested in understanding how plants respond to and tolerate drought. Mechanisms of drought tolerance involve a set of traits that allow plants to cope with the negative effects of water limitation. My research focuses on one of these traits: the presence of photosynthetic stems. A lot of my work has focused on studying the physiology and ecology of stem photosynthesis in Mediterranean, desert, and tropical ecosystems and its responses to a changing climate.
