Research Summary

My research focuses on ancient-Earth environments. Most of my efforts to this point are aimed at reconstructing Earth's oxygenation history. When did molecular oxygen (O2) start to accumulate at Earth's surface, and how has its abundance changed ever since? How did this help or hinder biological evolution? To answer these and related questions, I use heavy metal stable isotopes.
