Biography

Dr. Shuaihang Pan received his Ph.D. degree (2021) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California-Los Angeles and a B.S. degree (2016) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, respectively. His research mainly focuses on advanced (nano-)manufacturing technique updates and omni-spectrum performance design (particularly anti-degradation optimization) for metallic systems.

Currently, he has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in top journals for manufacturing and materials science, 4 invited reviews, and 2 patents, with >500 citations. His conference talks at WTC (2017), NAMRC (2019), and TMS (2020 and 2022) also attract more and more attention to his research. With these achievements, he received the 2019 Best Review Paper Award of Journal Friction and the 2019 NSF Travel Grant Award. Dr. Pan is now serving as the Guest Editor for Coatings (2021-2022) and the Editorial Board member for Surface Technology (2021-) and Tungsten (2022-). He is also the reviewer for journals including JMS&T, APL, Mater. Char., JAP, etc. and the invited reviewer for Elsevier book proposal (2021). With over 7 years of research experience, he is actively collaborating with professors, scholars, and engineers around the world for more exciting research exploration in advanced manufacturing and novel materials design.
