Research Summary

I am interested in understanding how the Fynbos Biome, South Africa, has evolved due to climate and anthropogenic changes over millennia. I am reconstructing fire histories at ~2-year intervals over the past 4,200 years to better understand climate-vegetation-fire-human linkages and hope that my research will provide a paleoecological context for understanding how climate and people have influenced fire in the Fynbos.
