Biography

Dr. Tim Tingey has worked for over twenty-five years in education, government, and non-profit organizations as a public administrator. He is currently a full-time faculty member in the Division of Public Affairs and serves as Chief Administrative Officer at NeighborWorks Salt Lake. He recently served for six years as the City Manager and Chief Executive Officer for Cottonwood Heights City, overseeing all executive and administrative functions of the community. He previously worked as the Director of Administrative and Development Services for Murray City Corporation managing seven divisions for the city and was the Executive Director for the Redevelopment Agency of Murray. He also worked for the City of Pocatello for eleven years in planning, grant administration and economic development.

Dr. Tingey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business (Management/Human Resources) from Utah State University and has a Master of Public Administration and Doctorate in Political Science from Idaho State University. He was an adjunct faculty member at Idaho State University teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in public administration and political science. He worked as an adjunct faculty member for The University of Utah since 2014 and in 2023 received an appointment as a core faculty member for the program.
