Database Theory & Design
Relational Database is the foundation for all kinds of information systems such as accounting information system, banking information system, customer relationship management (CRM) system, enterprise resources planning (ERP) system, and medical information system. Database technology has become an essential technology supporting operations and decision makings in modern organizations.
In this course, we learn (1) fundamental database theories and methodologies, (2) core techniques for analyzing, designing, and implementing database systems, and (3) theoretical and practical understanding of working with data in relational databases. Both fundamental theories and hands-on experiences are emphasized in this course. This is accomplished through lectures, in-class exercises, individual homework assignments, a group project, and laboratories of using Oracle database.
