  • 2012 UCEA Convention - Mission Possible - Middle school and high school students who come from low-income and/or non-white families have limited vision of their post-secondary futures due to a multitude of factors, including limited personal experience resulting in low efficacy and disconnection from school as early as middle school (Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, & Pastorelli, 2001; Battin-Pearson et al., 2000).   • 2012 UCEA Convention - Focused Site Specific Professional Development - There is a need for educators that are currently working in schools to receive professional development that is social justice-based. So we thought about how we would fit the need for such development in schools. Teachers want a collaborative learning process; long-term professional development; and a combination of theory and practice. We seek to provide professional development to help teachers to reach historically-marginalized populations and improve the climate for students, families, and the community.
