Geography of China and Asia
This course aims at a better understanding of peoples and socio-economic landscape in China, with an emphasis on human/economic geographical patterns and linkages between Chinese and Asian economies. Topics include environment and resources, population and society, political governance, economic reforms, economic geography and development, diverse cities and regions, and integration into the global economy. -

Seminar in Urban Geography
This course provides a broad overview of important work in urban geography and urban studies; it focuses on urban and development theory and policy, including globalization and cities, urban systems, urban economic development, housing and urban land use, migration and urbanization, neighborhood transition, and spatial structure. -

Public Policy Research
Basic training in research methodology is underlying sound policy analysis and decisions. To critically evaluate the reading materials, this course reviews basic and multivariate statistical techniques and introduces more advanced statistics such as factor analysis and techniques to deal with spatial data. This course will use a combination of lecture, class discussion, labs, assignments, and student presentations.
