Research Interests

Dr. Asche is the Executive Director of the Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research Center and Research Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Formerly he was the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Research Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He also held managerial positions in the pharmaceutical industry, including the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Group and Aventis Pharmaceuticals where he managed outcomes research applied to both research and development and customer marketing areas in highly matrix-structured organizations. His research focuses on the use of comparative effectiveness research and cost-effectiveness analysis in health care decision-making. His academic work has comprised of authoring and co-authoring over 130 peer-reviewed publications appearing in the medical economics literature. He serves on numerous national and international health economics-focused boards and committees. His current research is funded by federal agencies and pharmaceutical companies. He earned his Ph.D. (Economics) from the University of Surrey, M.Sc. (Health Economics) from the University of York, and M.B.A. from the City University of Seattle.
