Biography
Lisa is a native of beautiful Vancouver, B.C., Canada (and also largely St. George, UT). She graduated from the University of Utah in 2008 with her B.A. in International Studies and a minor in German, during which time she studied abroad in Kiel, Germany. She later lived in Santiago, Chile, for five weeks, where she volunteered and began to learn Spanish.
She has been advising since graduation, with experience in the department of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education and at Salt Lake Community College. She advised for World Languages and Cultures for over six years, and helped the department transition through chairs, major curriculum changes, adding an extra advisor, and a full departmental name change. In 2015 she completed her M.Ed. in Adult Learning and Global Change from the University of British Columbia.
In 2019 Lisa accepted the role of Director of Major Exploration in the Academic Advising Center. She thorougly enjoyed advocating for undecided/exploring students throughout their entire student experience through teaching UGS 1050, serving on committees, creating programming, and of course, advising one on one.
These skills have provided a strong foundation for her role from July 2023 on as Associate Director of Student Affairs in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, where she supports the DPT program overall with a focus on the new UOnline Hybrid Pathway students.
When she’s not in the office, she can be found catching up on TV, mountain biking, or cheering on Utah football and gymnastics, but most importantly, spending time with her 7 year old Border Collie mix and the true leader of the house, her 14 year old Maltese mix.
