Research Summary

My current research is focused on the following topics: 1. Cellular and tissue remodeling in heart disease, 2. Structural and functional restoration after cardiac therapy, and 3. Clinical translation of fiber-optics confocal microscopy.

Research Statement

Cardiovascular diseases are the major cause of death in the developed world. My research aims at providing insights into structure and function of tissues, cells and proteins of the normal and diseased heart. This research is motivated by my interest in combining science, engineering and medicine to improve health in society, and the obvious need for improved care of cardiovascular diseases.
