Biography

Matthew R. Durrant completed a PhD in Music Composition at the University of Utah in the fall of 2019. His music varies a great deal in style and tone and he enjoys contrasting diatonicism with more atonal elements. His music is also often inspired by the vast landscapes of the American West. He enjoys writing for winds and brass and has a number of works published for those instruments. Matthew is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Utah and member of the theory faculty at the Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City. He currently resides in Midvale, Utah with his family.
