Teaching Philosophy

After teaching in higher education for over 25 years, my philosophy has been to help students learn by facilitating their education.  By facilitating learning, I challenge myself as an educator.  I have an adaptable and flexible teaching style that includes multiple techniques, from traditional lecture formats to interactive and participatory activities.  I encourage critical thinking and strive to maintain a mutual atmosphere of respect, while fostering the desire for my students to build a foundation of knowledge and concepts to their experiences as learners.  My goal is to help students succeed, as learners, and apply their content knowledge, as well as analytical and critical thinking, to creative and real world application.
