Biography

Dan Garrison is a seasoned attorney, serial entrepreneur and C-level executive. Over his thirty-five-year business and twenty-five-year law careersDan has founded and managed law firms and other businesses, and developed a national reputation in corporate restructuring, business bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation. He currently owns and manages Fresh Start Funding, a national finance and payment management company with a mission of making attorneys affordable and accessible to everyone, and Ovation Law, a national consumer bankruptcy law firm. He previously was a partner in a number of international and regional law firms, and owned and operated his own boutique business law firm. 

 

Dan holds an AV-Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell, and has been listed in Southwest Superlawyers for bankruptcy and Best Lawyers in America for commercial litigation.  In 2005, Dan’s work with a troubled sand-and-gravel company was recognized as the “Turnaround of the Year” by the Arizona Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, and in 2011 he was again a finalist for that award for his work with a large residential rental company. In 2017, his work with two troubled hospitals was recognized as the national “Turnaround of the Year” in the middle-market category by the Turnaround Management Association and as the “Healthcare Transaction of the Year” by M&A Advisor.  

 

Dan has been a regular speaker and teacher for various state and local bar and professional associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute, and recently published articles on bifurcating chapter 7 cases, entitled “Liberating Debtors from the Sweatbox: Bifurcation in Consumer Chapter 7 Cases” in the July 2018 issue of the ABI Journal, and “There’s No Such Thing as Too Much Information: Disclosure of Bifurcation and Financing in Chapter 7 Cases” in the July 2019 issue of that same publication. Dan also has been called on as an executive coach for senior management in a number of significant companies, and regularly teaches on leadership and management topics. 

 

Dan graduated from the University of Utah College of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and served on the Utah Law Review.  Following graduation, he clerked for the Hon. Dee V. Benson of the United States District Court for the District of Utah. He serves on the Alumni Board of Trustees of his law school, and is a founding board member, former board chair and governance committee chair of Care Fund, a charity that provides housing assistance to the families of critically ill children. Dan’s current and former professional affiliations include the American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bar Association, Turnaround Management Association, and Entrepreneur’s Organization.
