Biography
KUED Producer Nancy Green specializes in the production of long-format documentaries for local, regional and national PBS broadcast. Her work at KUED spans 17 years. Recently, she produced the documentaries: On The Edge: Mental Health In Utah, Green River: Divided Waters, Healthcare: Facing Barriers, and Maynard Dixon: To the Desert Again. Previously, she has collaborated as a Producer with Ken Verdoia on a number of high profile, award-winning KUED productions, including Secrets of the Lost Canyon (2005),Battalion (2003), and Shadow of Hope (2004), which received the coveted Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award. Additionally, Green has co-produced and edited a wide range of programs, such as Promontory (2002), Fire in the Hole (2000), Joe Hill(1999), Frontier Photographers (1998), Brigham Young (1997), Let the Women Vote (1997), the four-part, five-hour series Utah: The Struggle for Statehood (1996), and Faces of Breast Cancer (1994).
As a Producer and Editor, Green has won numerous awards during the course of her career, including awards from: the Rocky Mountain Emmys, Utah Society of Professional Journalists, Houston WorldFest, National CINE Golden Eagle, New York Film Festivals, and Women in Television & Film. Green’s production, The Journey Home: Stories From Hospice (2001), was recognized with a Utah Hospice Association Excellence Award and is a program that is considered by many to be a fundamental educational work regarding hospice care in Utah.
Prior to her work at KUED, Green served as Associate Producer for the national KUTV Baby Your Baby Series. She studied Neuropsychology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst prior to receiving her B.A. in Film Studies from the University of Utah, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Art in Film. Originally a native of New Jersey, Green was lured to Utah by the dream of becoming a ski bum. She lives in Salt Lake City with her musician/composer husband, Frank and her not so musical cats, Deke and Cal.
