Research Summary

My primary area of focus has been magnetic resonance imaging, with applications to angiography and the use of MRI in guiding thermal therapy and ablation of cancer. I published the first paper showing that magnetic resonance might be used for temperature imaging. For the past 25 years I have helped lead the development of the University of Utah's program in MRI guided focused ultrasound therapy and the development of our MRgFUS system for treating breast cancer.
