Research Summary
I am highly interested in health management and preventative medicine. I am currently involved in research related to diabetes management for the low-income, Spanish-speaking population. Through this research, I am investigating occupational therapy's interdisciplinary role on the diabetes management team and how client-centered, holistic approaches increase the likelihood of lifestyle change in patients. I am further interested in lifestyle change as it relates to disease management.

Biography
I graduated with a bachelors in health sciences and a masters in occupational therapy from the University of Findlay. Since entering the field, I have worked in adult inpatient/acute/community and outpatient pediatrics. Following a few years of work, I returned to school and received a post-professional clinical doctorate in occupational therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. I currently work as a full-time assistant professor and doctoral capstone coordinator for the occupational therapy program. Alongside teaching, I treat patients in the community who are returning to their prior level of function post neurological injuries. While working with these patients, I am passionate about occupational therapy's role in lifestyle management as it relates to diabetes and healthy habits and routines.
