Biography

David Simpson currently serves as an Assistant Solicitor General in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Utah Attorney General’s Office. He received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from Stanford Law School. Before moving to Utah, he served as a law clerk to Judge Michael S. Kanne of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, litigated criminal appeals for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, and litigated civil appeals in private practice. He was also an adjunct professor of appellate advocacy for the Loyola University Chicago School of Law and taught courses on evidence, criminal law, and criminal procedure for the Arizona State University School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
