Biography

My research agenda focuses on race & punishment, broadly. I primarily follow two distinct, yet interrelated lines of inquiry: 1) racial and ethnic inequality in the criminal legal system and 2) the impacts of incarceration on the family.

I have been published in a variety of academic journals across disciplines ranging from sociology and criminology to psychology and education. I am strongly committed to collaborative, interdisciplinary research and have co-authored manuscripts with experts from a variety of fields such as counseling, therapy, communications, and education, among others. I also aim to communicate my research findings and expertise to the public, and my writing has appeared in practitioner journals, local news outlets, and the London School of Economics American Politics and Policy Blog.
