Research Summary
The major themes that tie my practice, teaching, service, and scholarship together are 1) improving the design and implementation of preservice teacher preparation programs and pedagogies, and 2) rethinking P-12 English Language Arts and social studies curricula to be more representative of the diversity of racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic peoples of the United States, with a particular emphasize on accurate, contemporary representations of Indigenous peoples.

Biography
Dr. Connor K. Warner joined the University of Utah Urban Institute for Teacher Education in August 2019. He received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas, his M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas Tech University, and his B.S.Ed. in English from Montana State University-Billings.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Warner had been an assistant professor in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS, and in the Division of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. At both of these institutions, Dr. Warner coordinated initial teacher certification for middle and high school teacher candidates and taught in the education master’s and doctoral programs. Before transitioning to higher education, Dr. Warner served for almost a decade as a department chair and English/social studies teacher at Stevensville Public Schools in Montana.
