Research Statement

My research interests are in two areas: socially responsible operations and behavioral operations. In socially responsible operations, I strive to conduct research that can have a positive impact on critical social issues. For instance, I am interested in improving firms’ supply reliability as well as preventing firms’ criminal acts such as covering up life-threatening product defects. In behavioral operations, I seek to enhance our understanding of the effects of human behavior on traditional operations management problems. Specifically, I focus on how individuals engage in “mental accounting” when handling economic transactions, and explore the effects of mental accounting in operations problems in areas such as project management and revenue management.
