Research Summary

My research interests fall into related categories: the social determinants of health/mental health for BIPOC individuals, families and communities and developing and evaluating anti-racist and inclusive higher education environments. I have a strong interest in integrating racial equity and intersectional frameworks in study designs, publications, technical assistance, and other academic and non-academic mediums. My work utilizes both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Tiffany Baffour has more than 25 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, social work practice, advocacy, research, and administrative leadership in the fields of social work and organizational development. At the University of Utah, Dr. Baffour serves as the Graduate School’s Associate Dean for Graduate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) while advancing her research agenda in the areas of anti-racist and inclusive pedagogy, violence prevention, mental health/health disparities, and community-based participatory research. In February 2022, Baffour received the Madame C.J. Walker Resource Award from the Black Culture Center at the University of Utah recognizing her efforts to strengthen community-engaged learning experiences and opportunities for civic engagement at the University and beyond. Additionally, she serves as an inaugural member of the Board of Directors for the McCluskey Center for Violence Prevention.
