Research Summary

Ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. My interest in Hellenistic schools, like Stoics, skeptics, and Epicureans, the writings of Cicero, and in religious thought, gave rise to my book, Cicero on the Philosophy of Religion (CUP, 2019). Now I am working on the problem of evil, and the temptations of the truth and curiosity, in Greco-Roman thought, and still on Cicero, especially his ethics. I also have research interest and competence in ancient Christian thinkers like Augustine, and in Plato.
