Biography

Jeff is a 25-year industry veteran, having founded multiple successful companies in his tenure, including the classic industry publication, “Electronic Gaming Monthly” in 1986.  Post media-publisher, he worked in Japan for SNK, developing software and launching the Neo Geo system, as well as NES and Arcade titles in his tenure.  Moving into the independent developer world, focus evolved to helping to grow companies like Sculptured Software, one of the most influential developers in the early 1990’s, and ultimately acquired by Acclaim Entertainment in 1996.  Jeff spent years working as a successful industry consultant and with other independent developers before serving almost 10 years at Electronic Arts as Executive Producer and Studio Director, managing teams up to 150+ people.  Notable launched franchises/titles of that tenure include:  Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Nascar, Tiger Woods, Crystalis, Baseball Stars, Nerf N-Strike, Monopoly Streets, Family Game Night and the Tetris Franchise of mobile Products, including Apple’s “Editor’s Choice” award winners, Tetris Blitz and Tetris Monster.  Jeff is currently a co-founder of TapStar Interactive Inc., an independent digital developer and publisher, which was successfully acquired by iEntertainment, Inc. in 2016.  He is also one of the founders of the Utah Digital Entertainment Network (UDEN), a non-profit trade organization focused on advocating and growing Utah’s digital entertainment community.  Jeff continues to work today as highly successfully, industry consultant, helping to grow independent businesses through innovative business, creative and development strategies.   Early in his career he was also a professional game player (at the dawn of what we now call eSports), listed in the Guinness book of world records for video game related achievements and has successfully designed, developed and launched video game products in just about every business model and dominant platform, from coin-operated all the way through to the advent of our current freemium and digital designs.
