Research Summary

My research interests span numerical analysis, scientific computing, model reduction, data analysis, and machine learning. My projects include developing algorithms to numerically solve differential equations, to quantify and study uncertainty in forward and inverse problems, and optimization-based learning and exploration.

Biography

Akil Narayan received his B.S. in 2003 from Northwestern University in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in 2004, and a Ph.D. from Brown University in Applied Mathematics in 2009. He served a 3-year postdoctoral appointment at Purdue University from 2009-2012, and subsequently joined the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics in 2012.
