Teaching Philosophy
My Teaching Philosophy in a Nutshell:
My approach to teaching is based on the belief that students learn best when they connect course material to their own lived experiences. To this end, I strive to make course content relevant and accessible to students, using real-world examples, hands-on activities, and interactive discussions to bring course material to life. I also believe fostering a sense of community in the classroom is essential, where students feel valued and supported as they navigate their academic journey. Keeping my classrooms interactive is vital in developing the fundamental skills that students need when pursuing careers in the behavioral sciences as they move into diverse professions and fields of study. Students in the field of psychology today must possess an array of skills, including cultural competence and awareness, critical thinking and problem-solving, and a foundation in the ethics of professionalism.
