Biography

Dong-ah Choi is a doctoral student in the department of City & Metropolitan Planning. She earned her bachelor and master degrees in Landscape Architecture at Seoul National University. During that time, while working at Landscape Urbanism Laboratory (LUL) of Seoul National University as a researcher and a landscape designer for two years, she studied diverse public uses of street green spaces in new towns according to adjacent land use in her master’s thesis. After graduating, seeking to study urban public spaces within the framework of urban planning and policy, she joined the Architecture and Urban Research Institute (AURI) in Korea and participated in research projects on urban parks and landscape policies from 2013 to 2015. In her doctoral study, she aims to further understand public spaces that support urban livability and sustainability by exploring the relationships between urban forms and users’ behavioral characteristics.
