Daniel Clifton is an artist, choreographer, composer, performer, and educator. Born in Niceville, FL, his artistic journey commenced with a fusion of photography and music, where he spent his early years writing and playing music in punk and jazz bands. His multidisciplinary approach, rooted in body and movement, reflects the diverse influences that shaped his creativity.

During nearly two decades in New York City, Daniel carved his path by creating original shows and collaborating with prominent artists such as Martha Clarke, Tere O’Connor, Nicholas Leichter, Bill Young and Colleen Thomas, and Julia Ritter. His dance works have been presented at many venues, including Henry Street Settlement, DNA, The Kitchen, IL FAUT BRULER POUR BRILLER, and Dancespace, among others. Daniel's artistic footprint extends globally through participation in international festivals such as ADF China and the Korean Dance Festival.

Currently residing in Salt Lake City, Daniel continues to enrich the dance landscape. He collaborates passionately with Satu Hummasti, with whom he premiered "Lost Love Socialite/Sweet Love Recluse" in 2019, and they eagerly anticipate the unveiling of a new production “Shore” in 2024. As a member of the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble, Daniel has been a part of many projects, most notably the ensemble's 2018 recording of Philip Glass's "Music with Changing Parts."

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Daniel Clifton is a dedicated educator at the University of Utah, where he is an Associate Professor [Lecturer]. Beyond Salt Lake City, his teaching experiences include institutions such as The University of the Arts, Florida State University, Lehman College, Hollins University, Sarah Lawrence College, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His commitment to education extends internationally, as seen in his involvement with the American Dance Festival, ADF China, and the Korean Dance Festival.
