ED PS 6447-001
Intro Web-Based ToolsLocation: SAEC 3147 (SAEC 3147)
As an instructor in the IDET and Learning and Cognition programs, I am responsible for teaching the EDPS 3140 Technology in Classrooms (Fall 2014, Spring 2015, Fall 2015, and Fall 2016), EDPS 6560 Multimedia Learning (Spring 2015 and 2016), EDPS 6447 Intro to Web-Based Tools and Applications (Summer 2016), as well as the EDPS 7440 Learning Sciences Seminar (Fall 2015, Spring 2016, and Fall 2016). The learning objectives for these courses range from skills pertaining to designing and disseminating research studies and findings as well as the development of technology integration skills for pre- and in-service teachers as well as industry professionals. My primary focus consists of the acquisition of technical skills in relation to the use and applications of iOS apps, web services, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of apps, the Adobe Captivate eLearning app, and client-side web programming languages (HTML, CSS, jQuery) for the classroom and workplace. My teaching practices are grounded in hands-on learning activities and flipped classroom strategies, relying heavily on out-of-class preparation (i.e., CodeAcademy, AdobeTV videos, and so on) as well as in-class demonstrations, guided practice, and independent practice opportunities that enable students to receive constructive and timely feedback. An emphasis is placed across these courses on building a web portfolio of educational materials and applications.
