Biography

Professor Haacke currently works as Associate General Counsel for the Administrative Office of the Courts.  Before this she spent years working in the juvenile court as a Guardian ad Litem and Child Welfare Mediator.  In addition to teaching the mediation and negotiation course, she coaches and travels with the law school’s ABA Representation in Mediation team.

Originally from Florida, Mrs. Haacke attained her undergraduate degree at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she studied international affairs.  After this she moved south, receiving her Juris Doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She continued to focus her law studies on international and comparative law, working as lead articles editor of the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law, and as legal director of the Inter-American Center for Human Rights. Her interests in international affairs and comparative law stem from visits to see family members in Swaziland, Africa and her continued travels.  While in Florida, Mrs. Haacke interned for the public defender’s office in the 9th Circuit of Florida, and for an immigration firm.  After moving to Utah, she transitioned her work to family law and mediation before engaging in work in the juvenile court.
