Biography

Julie King is a nurse midwife on the faculty practice team and she comes with 20+ years of experience. After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah in 1988, she worked in Salt lake City as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 7 years and then attended Georgetown University where she received her Master’s of Science (Midwifery) in 1998. While back East, Julie worked in Maryland and Virginia both in hospital and in a birth center. After graduating, she returned to Utah and was in a group midwifery practice in American Fork, UT. While in that practice, she was preceptor to many University of Utah nurse-midwifery students and also taught undergraduate nursing students at Brigham Young University. She then spent nine years in California practicing as the solo midwife in a physician practice and later in a group practice at Kaiser Permanente. Julie is very happy to be “back home” in the mountain west where she enjoys skiing and hiking.  Julie’s philosophy of midwifery is to help a woman and her family have the birth experience they desire, whatever that may be, wherever and however and w/ whomever. Her philosophy for women’s health is to promote a healthy, sustained, prolonged life of joy and enrichment. She has a passion for all areas of women’s health. In addition to skiing and hiking, Julie enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and being with friends and family. She is very excited to be part of the BirthCare HealthCare team and the midwifery community of Utah. Julie is priarly based at the Greenwood Clinic where she sees clients 2 days a week and does births at the University Hospital. In 2019, Julie and 2 colleagues began going to Elko, NV twice a month to provide prenatal and gynecologic care for women in this small town.  She particularly looks forward to taking care of women of all ages, in all stages of life and for all well-woman needs.
