  • As co-director of the Utah Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network I conduct frequent outreach to elected officials and policy advocates in the State of Utah and Salt Lake City to connect them with local and national scholars and scholarship to help them develop and push for public policies. In addition, we plan lectures and events on campus that connect scholars with those in the community working in public policy and advocacy. Below is a list of such events with descriptions: (1) “Making Sense of the 2016 Elections” (October 2016) Along with Tabitha Benney, I helped organized a one-day symposium co-hosted by the Utah chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network, the Hinckley Institute, and the Department of Political Science featuring speakers and panels on various issue surrounding the 2016 presidential election. The panels took place on campus in the Student Union and featured from the University of Utah, other universities around the country, and politicians and policy advocates from the state of the Utah. (2) “Inequality in Utah and Beyond” (March 2016) Along with Tabitha Benney, I helped organized a one-day symposium co-hosted by the Utah chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network, the Hinckley Institute, and the Department of Political Science, featuring speakers and panels on various topics related to inequality in Utah and the United States. The panels, which took place on campus and downtown, featured participants from the University of Utah, other universities around the country, and politicians and policy advocates from the state of the Utah and Salt Lake City. 07/01/2015 - present
