The majority of Leah's career has been in pediatrics. She worked at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC on the hematology / oncology unit, assisting with the development of a Bone Marrow Transplant training course for new nurses. She then worked in a pediatric outpatient clinic of University of Virginia's Medical Center. She partnered with members of the Charlottesville community and pediatricians to develop varying educational materials relevant to the needs of the community. She began a master's in community health nursing at the University of Virginia and finished the degree in Utah, working with the Utah Department of Health, Maternal Child Health Bureau on the Title V Needs Assessment for the maternal child population of Utah.
From the beginning of her career, Leah has sought opportunities for education - through patient education, precepting, and / or educational committees. Teaching at the University of Utah, College of Nursing has been a definite highlight, especially because she can bring her passion for community health into the classroom and to the students in their clinical sites.
