Biography

Mercedes is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Her dissertation is titled, Understanding Development, Implementation and Challenges of Sustainability Programs and the Role of the Employee: A Multiple Convention Center Case Study. In addition to sustainability in convention centers, Mercedes is interested in researching the role that venue and special event employees play in policy implementation, the use of theory in tourism research, the business case for sustainability and and complex adaptive systems.
