Biography

Dr. Udita Gupta is career-line associate professor in the College of Education at the University of Utah. In her academic role, she teaches and mentors pre-service teachers in both STEM and non-STEM field. Along with, Dr. Gupta also teaches secondary math methods classes. Dr. Gupta also plans and executes projects related to supporting mentor teachers (also in-service teachers) and induction programs for her newly hired teachers in school districts in Utah and also in other states. Through all of the her work and teaching, Dr. Gupta strives to build a diverse community of teachers committed to understanding, acknowledging and addressing issues of diversity (both cultural and linguistic) in their own classrooms. Recently, Dr. Gupta has started working in the area of global education and as a result, is incorporating global assets in her secondary math methods class and also in the licensure classes that she teaches.

Dr. Gupta’s research interests include looking at issues of cognitive load, reflective practices that pre-service teachers use during the course of their licensure year, mentoring and reflection practices incorporated by mentor teachers in their mentoring of pre-service teachers and community-engaged learning practices. When Dr. Gupta is not working, she enjoys cooking world cuisines, baking, embroidery and spending time with her two kids.
