Research Statement
I am currently pursuing more rigorous basic research training in the laboratory of Mario R. Capecchi, PhD, through the support of a K08 career development award from the National Cancer Institute. As a surgeon-scientist, my time is divided between 25% effort toward my musculoskeletal oncologic surgery clinical practice and the teaching of orthopaedic residents and fellows, and 75% effort toward scientific development. My current research in the Capecchi Genetics Laboratory includes a primary investigation of osteosarcomagenesis using an in vivo forward genetic screen in the mouse as well as other projects related to translocation-associated sarcomagenesis.
