Biography

Ms. Blanch has an extensive product liability practice, representing manufacturers and distributors of all types of products, including appliances, power tools, and vehicles. She is a member of an eight-lawyer committee charged with drafting new product liability instructions for use in civil jury trials in Utah. While Ms. Blanch's practice has an emphasis in product liability, she has handled litigation of all types and sizes over the past fourteen years, ranging from catastrophic personal injury claims to employment litigation; from commercial disputes to insurance coverage lawsuits.Ms. Blanch has handled dozens of appeals on the state and federal levels, including over 25 published opinions. She has argued before the Utah Court of Appeals, the Utah Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served for several years on the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on the Utah Rules of Appellate Procedure. Ms. Blanch averages two trials per year and has tried product liability, automobile, premises liability, wrongful death, and business contract cases, and has taken over twenty cases to trial. Ms. Blanch has presented seminars for Utah lawyers on the basics of litigation, jury selection, and trial techniques. Recently, Ms. Blanch obtained the dismissal of a restaurant in a slip-and-fall case where brain injury was alleged, received a defense verdict from the jury for a bail bond surety, then successfully maintained that verdict at the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court, and tried a truck accident case involving a fatality and traumatic brain injury before the parties settled mid-way through trial.Drawing on her experience with charitable organizations and her legal expertise, Ms. Blanch is available as a non-profit consultant on an hourly or flat fee basis. Her services range from strategic planning and initiatives, solving personnel issues, project management, conflict resolution, contract and other document review, and research.Ms. Blanch is married to James Blanch. She enjoys running marathons, cooking, and reading military history.
