Research Statement

I believe that changing student populations, changing technology tools, emerging learning environments, and a refocus on assessment and accountability create exciting opportunities for research involving learning environments, tools, strategies, and perceptions. Therefore, issues such as the scholarship of teaching and learning, learning assessment, online learning and multimedia integration, course design, and academic leadership are my main areas of research interests. As a librarian my interestsalso include library research skills, the librarian teacher/researcher identity and developing for future library skills.

Since attaining tenure in 2016, I have been focused on researching my librarian roles in relation to boundary crossing. I bring to my librarian role a unique set of skill sets and experience having taught in higher education and worked as a faculty developer and instructional designer. I believe that librarians have a unique opportunity to 'boundary cross' in higher education and bring an interdisciplinary perspective to research, teaching, and service. As a qualitative researcher I share my expertise with graduate students, faculty and research groups. My interdisciplinary interactions have resulted in a wide range of projects and invitations to participate in grants across several different disciplines.
