Research Summary

My academic research focused on how -- in key moments in American history -- individuals and communities bore witness to their experiences through art, language, and interactions with political and legal systems and the built environment (landscapes, architecture, buildings, monuments, public squares, and places of public business). My professional research currently focuses on how strategic use of publicly owned land can improve the well-being of individuals, communities, and economies.
