Patient/Client Satisfaction

  • While teaching a running speed work fitness class for PEAK fall 2014 semester, one of my participants lost over 25ibs and served as a real inspiration to everyone around. Below is an excerpt from a thank you email that was sent. "...please accept my sincere gratitude for a great semester. Both my PEAK classes, and yours in particular, have been a great way to help me get active on weekdays and increase my overall wellness. Your ability to motivate your participants and encourage us to dig in has enabled me to surprise myself with what I can do if I continually push myself harder. These days I feel as though each time I lace up my running sneakers, I can do a little more than I did the day before. I’m looking forward to finding new ways to challenge myself and I appreciate the role you played in helping me get where I am." . 12/11/2014.

Courses I Teach

  • ESS 2500 - Exploration of Movement Sciences
This is an introduction to the Exercise and Sport Science (ESS) major. Students will learn about the four emphases of ESS (Athletic Training, Exercise and Sport Science, Fitness and Health Specialist, Physical Education Training Education). A second purpose of the course is to help students understand the research process. Students will research within each emphasis and use their knowledge of the emphases to develop and answer a research question and develop a research project. This course is designed for students who are newly declared to the major or are contemplating declaring the major.
  • ESS 4800 - Practicum in Fitness Leadership
The purpose of this course is to help you gain practical experience that will facilitate your goal of becoming a fitness leader. For this semester, you will be an unpaid “employee” of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science and PEAK Health and Fitness. You will be serving as an exercise leader in the University employee fitness classes and personal training sessions.
